Community Recreation and Leadership Training (CRLT) is a three-year program which trains students to work in the fields of leisure and recreation. It focuses on teamwork, outdoor and environmental education, communication techniques, group dynamics and program planning skills. The program offers a careful blend of theory and practice; students test their leadership skills in internships with organizations and institutions across Quebec. CRLT is the only program of its kind among anglophone colleges in Quebec.
Some specific skills you will acquire in the program include the following:
- analyzing the leisure needs of a particular group and developing an intervention plan
- planning and implementing a program, and overseeing its budget
- evaluating the success of a program
- leading small and large groups
- organizing events
- speaking publicly
- first aid training
Objective of Program
Graduates of CRLT will leave this program with both life and leadership skills in the areas of communication, program planning, community development, administration, group leadership and teamwork. Students apply and develop these skills through actual on-the-job fieldwork experience. At the end of three years, students will have accumulated over 550 hours of work experience.
