The Department of Computer Science Technology offers a three-year full time day program leading to the Diploma of Collegial Studies (D.E.C.) in Computer Science Technology. As part of the three year program, the department has an internship (stage) of seven weeks.

Developing software solutions for the Internet economy is what Computer Science Technology program is about at Dawson College. Students in the program learn how to:

 

  • Analyze a problem
  • Design a solution
  • Create the software to implement the solution
  • Test the software
  • Document the software

 

 

To achieve this there are five domains of study in the program. These are:

 

  • Programming, data structures, and algorithms
  • Operating systems, networks, and computer architecture
  • Database
  • Internet applications
  • Internship

In addition to this and the usual CEGEP core courses (English, Humanities, French, Physical Education, & Complimentary) there are courses in Business Administration, Psychology, and Mathematics.
