Welcome to Civil Engineering Technology The Civil Engineering Technology program is a three-year career that has existed since the inception of Dawson College in 1969. It is the only one offered in English throughout the province of Quebec. The students are trained in the management and design of construction projects and in laboratory techniques used in testing concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregate and water quality. Among the skills you will acquire are: - Performing design calculations for steel, concrete and wood structures
- Preparing engineering drawings using both the computer and drafting table.
- Estimating quantities and costs for construction projects.
- Managing and scheduling construction projects.
- Technical design and inspection of buildings and infrastructures
- Examining environmental measures to minimize environmental impact.
- Surveying for the constructions of roads, infrustructures and buildings
In your final year, you will participate in a training internship that will allow you to apply your skills in the field. You will be paid while participating in the training internship. As a graduate of this program, you will be qualified to work for consulting engineers, the public sectors – federal, provincial or municipal level, laboratories, general contractors, manufacturers or fabricators of construction products, or independently as an entrepreneur. Also,you will be eligable to continue your studies at the university level in the field of engineering. |
